It's time to celebrate Independence Day with family, barbecues, fireworks, and fun! We’ve got a full listing of all 2016 Fourth of July events in our area!

 

 

Southeast Missouri

 

Enjoy an old-fashioned "church dinner" with all the trimmings. This festival also includes a horseshoe tournament, ice cream, bingo, and fireworks. This event is held at the Guardian Angel Knights of Columbus Hall at 604 Church St., Oran, MO. Stop by July 4. The event starts at 11 a.m.

 

 On July 2 Head to the Patton Lion's Club in Patton, MO for lawnmower races starting at 4 p.m. A firework display will be held after the race. Entry fee is $5.

 

Caster River Park Campground in Grassy, MO is having a firework display over the river on July 2. An entry fee does apply. Call Castor River Park at (573) 495-2485 for more information.

 

Plan a day at Whippoorwill Lake Family Campground in Marble Hill, MO. Enjoy swimming, camping, and barbecue. Karaoke and live music start July 2 at 6 p.m., with a firework display at dusk. For more information contact Daniel at (573) 238-3995.

 

For a full day of fun Jackson is the place to be. Starting at 7 a.m. and going until 10 p.m. is the Fourth of July festival in Jackson City Park. It all starts with Independence Day 5K Race, then the mud volleyball tournament begins at 8 a.m. The rest of the day includes helicopter rides, a kiddie train, car show, pony rides, the rubber duck races, and a golf ball drop! The park will be filled with food vendors, carnival-style games, and a beer garden. The Southern Brothers and the Jackson Municipal Band will perform live music in the Leist Band Shell! Fireworks are set off at 9 p.m.

 

Poplar Bluff is still planning out their Fourth of July festivities. There will be a 5K, a parade, and of course, fireworks! Watch their facebook page for updates.

 

Fort D in Cape Girardeau will be celebrating an old fashioned Independence Day with musket and canon fire, history reenactment, and more. This is a free event going all day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

 

Sainte Genevieve will have their fireworks in Pere Marquette Parc July 4 at dusk. Come early for live music and a beer garden.  Entry is free.

 

Cape Girardeau is hosting a ‘Great American Fourth of July’ on the river. Festivities include patriotic music from the Cape Girardeau Municipal Band, a Naturalization Ceremony, Southeast Missourian Spirit of America Award starting at 6:45 p.m. A fireworks display on the Mississippi River starts at dusk. A free shuttle will be provided by Isle Casino from the Show Me Center to downtown, visitors are asked to park at these venues. Rain date for fireworks is July 5.



Southern Illinois

 
Join the Independence Day celebration at the city park in Tamms, IL. July 4, from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. there will be food, activities, and live music by Steve Hornbeak and the Mainstreet Players. Enjoy the fireworks show after the concert. 

The village of Goreville will host its annual Freedom Fest. The festival will feature a freedom run, a parade, car and tractor show, live music, a concert in the park with Jackson Junction, vendors, and a firework show at dusk.


Carbondale will be hosting their firework display at the Superblock July 4 at 9 p.m.

 

The Sikeston Elks and City of Sikeston will host a fireworks display at the Sikeston Recreation Complex. Free admission and parking.

 

Walker’s Bluff will be holding an early Independence Day celebration in Carterville on July 3. Red, White, and Brews will feature live music, micro brew tastings, and BBQ. The fireworks show will be held at dusk. Cost is $10 per car. Performers include Chris Slone, Eli Tellor, Matt Basler, Mr. Swamp Fox, Murphy500.

 

For some more Reds, Whites, and Brews visit StarView Vineyards on July 2. They’ll be grilling hamburgers and hotdogs, and serving wine and beer all day. King Juba will perform live for your musical enjoyment. The day will end with a fireworks show.

 

Metorpolis will have fireworks in Washington Park on July 4, at dusk.
