The Zonta Club of Cape Girardeau Hits the Decade Mark for its Biggest Fundraiser

The Zonta Club of Cape Girardeau is part of Zonta International, a world-wide organization dedicated to advancing the status of women. They perform hands-on services that directly help women, not only here in Cape Girardeau, but also in Haiti, and other parts of the globe. The Women of Achievement Luncheon is part of that service. Their biggest fundraiser, it will provide local funding to help women in need, and goes toward helping such charities as the American Cancer Society, Read to Succeed, the Safe House for Women, and many others. The fundraiser is also being held to recognize and award women from Missouri for their service to the community. This year the Luncheon focuses on women in the military, and will be honoring Colonel Kimberlee P. Joos, and Diane Howard.

Now living in Texas where she commands the 17th Training Wing at Goodfellow Air Force Base, Colonel Joos is a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University with a degree in psychology. She already boasts six awards and decorations for over a decade of military assignment and education.

Diane Howard is a retiree from the United States Navy (JAG Corps) serving 25 years as Captain and Commanding Officer to her units. She is now an attorney with the Limbaugh Law Firm in Cape. She is a graduate of the Mississippi University for Women, as well as St. Louis University of Law.

These two amazing women will receive the well-deserved 2014 Celebration Award, and the 2014 Lifetime Achievement Award for their services to the country, and roles of admiration they produce for all women.

Last year over 400 attendees came to honor, support, and sponsor not only the award-winners, but all women in need. Tickets can still be purchased at the Capezonta.org website, as well as sponsorship, and donations.

The Zonta Club of Cape Girardeau is hosting its 10th Annual Zonta Women of Achievement Luncheon on Friday, November 21. The Luncheon will be hosted at the Plaza by Rays (3257 Williams St.). the Sponsor Expo begins at 10:30 a.m. and the Luncheon starts at 11:30 a.m.
