Daniel Whittington and Doug Rees

by Emily Sladek

Amazing vocals paired perfectly with flawless acoustics are just the beginning for Texas based musician Daniel Whittington and local musician Doug Rees. As the duo performs at several places in the area, I strongly encourage you to take the opportunity to hear them.

Hailing from Texas, Daniel Whittington has dedicated most of his life to music. He can cover a lot of territory with his sound, both in music and voice. There is a certain sentiment in his voice that carries through his guitar strings and takes you away to a familiar comfort.

He has been part of various rock and blues bands at the helm of the drums, and he spent the better part of 6 years touring the US, Canada, and England with his band. Another band he helped form, Rhodes, has even taken the stage opening for Aerosmith. He has since turned back to his roots in Texas and continues in the tradition of Americana and Texas roots style songs resulting in two albums released in 2010 as well as his latest release in 2012.

Taking the stage with Daniel is Doug Rees. Known locally for his casual and comfortable style, Doug is often found in jam sessions and on stages testing the limits of his talents and ever expanding them. He plays frequently with other musician blending his sound with that of many different styles. His recent album release "Nature Boy" is full of real life and real people, as Doug prides himself on the truth and honesty in his music.

It seems like an injustice to see these performers take the stage together free of charge, but all of their upcoming shows are just that, no charge.
