Whether it's for that warm-fuzzy feeling or for a cause near and dear to your heart, giving back to charities seems to be an ever increasing occurrence. In the upcoming weeks, several fun events are planned to support those worthy causes.
Friday night, you can laugh it up with several local comedians at Port Cape's Comedy for a Cure. This first time event will be in support of the American Cancer Society via Relay for Life. Also to take to the Port Cape stage after the comedians' performances will be Headley Grange to close out the night with a little rock and blues. For more details on the event, click here!
The following night you can revisit your high school days of PROM! In benefit of MDA (Muscular Dystrophy Association) and a local family, you can get all dolled up or pull out that tux that has been hiding away in the closet all of these years and attend the Trendsetter's and State Beauty Supply's PROM, or People Rising Over Muscular Dystrophy. Present to entertain will be Neal Boyd and Maggie Thorn. You can dance the night away, take a few pictures in the photo booth, enter the 50/50 raffle and more, all the while supporting another great cause! For the details, click here!
The next weekend a fitness-friendly, superhero-themed event will be held at Capaha Park for another heartfelt cause. A 5K Run/Walk and a Fun Run/Walk will be held in honor of Michelle Bundy, a young mother of two children was diagnosed with a rare, highly aggressive cancer. In an effort to raise awareness for this cancer and to provide for the future of her family, the 2nd Annual Michelle Bundy 5K will be held April 7. For more about this event, click here!
Last but not least, gear up for a wild, muddy mess at Outlaw Off-Road Park April 14. Crawlin' for a Cause will take to the Outlaw mud pits for a day of fun and mayhem, all in support of the National MS (Multiple Sclerosis) Society. This is a cause that hits close to home to a local family. As a second family member was diagnosed with MS, a family member who spends his free time building mud trucks and crawlers and taking them to area events, the family teamed up with Outlaw to help raise money and awareness for this cause. Complete with food and beverages available for purchase, this event promises to donate proceeds to the National MS Society inviting all types of off road vehicles including rock crawlers, mud trucks, ATVs, dirtbikes, and utility vehicles. They are also selling t-shirts and doing a 50/50 raffle for the cause. For all of the details, click here!
While there are many causes out there to support, we are grateful to be able to help those around us! From the local level - helping individuals and families in our area - to the national level - societies and associations dedicated to finding cures - we encourage you to get out and help out to support these causes!
