There are few things more liberating than the open road in front of you and the hum of a motorcycle beneath you. A humbling thought, though, is knowing so many have sacrificed so much to afford you the freedom to take to the road and ride as you please.
To honor those who have given up their time, their families, and even their lives so that we may continue to have that liberty, the Lawless Freedom Rally will host the Freedom Ride, a police escorted tribute to the troops. The bike motorcade will proceed from Isle Casino through Downtown Cape Girardeau and through Scott City on Saturday, May 30 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
The parade Grand Marshall is Tim Kennedy, a decorated and dedicated US Army Special Forces Green Beret veteran who served in both Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. Among his awards are the Army Bronze Star Medal with the V device for valor under fire. Kennedy currently serves with the Texas Army National Guard, dedicating time and money to various philanthropic veterans' organizations. He is also a UFC professional MMA fighter and is one of only a few who have served full time in the US Army while simultaneously fighting professionally.
The Freedom Ride will also feature special performances by Jennifer Hathaway and Stan Denninger. A Freedom Rally Tribute will follow the ride hosted by Toby Nunn, US Army Sergeant First Class and member of the Sportsman Channel television show Veteran's Outdoors.
All makes and models of bikes and riders are invited to participate. An entry fee of $20 per bike ($10 for veterans) will be collected and donated to Veteran Outdoors, an organization dedicated to providing opportunities for wounded veterans to hunt, fish, and enjoy other outdoor activities.
Join together for the Lawless Freedom Rally Freedom Ride to laud those who have gone before us in to service so that we may continue to enjoy freedom on the home front.
