When it comes to celebrating the community Portageville Missouri knows how to throw a party. Perfect for kids and adults, Portageville Community Day is a full day of events, activities, live music and so much more that will be sure to please the public and bring everyone together for a celebration of good neighbors and a strong community.
Community Day starts off bright and early at 8:00 a.m. with a kids 5K and fun run. The kids will be running for a cause to raise money for Missouri Jaycees. The Race will be followed by the opening of Community Day at 9:00 a.m. Festivities include a bouncy house, and putt putt golf, a dunking booth, and a petting zoo hosted by Lazy L. Safari Park.
For a little extra destruction there will be a Smash the Clunker event. Take all your rage and frustration, your stress and your worries and let it out via sledgehammer as you smash a car into smithereens. Everyone likes a good bout of needless violence, so don’t be shy, step right up and unleash your bottled-up emotions.
While the kids are busy bouncing, smashing, and putting, adults can enjoy a friendly washer tournament, a BBQ cook-off and contest to see who really has the best BBQ recipe, a car and bike show, and the cornhole tournament. You can also tour all the local vendors for food and shopping.
If you prefer to sit back and relax then bring a lawn chair and blanket to enjoy the lineup of local bands that will be performing from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Performers include Ben Pyles, Scott Shipley, Jesse Charles Hammock from Powder Mill, and Frankenstein featuring Portageville’s own Nathan Day. The live music will keep everyone’s energy up, and the party going strong.
The best part is that entry is absolutely free. Don’t miss Portageville’s Community Day June 13 starting at 9:00 a.m. and going all day long in Meatte Memorial Park. For anyone needing more information, or details on the contests call 573-391-4073, or visit their Facebook Page.
