Bikers on the Square has created a niche in the motorcycle community, rallying together both bikers and enthusiasts for the past three years. City streets will once again be closed down for the weekend affair featuring entertainment and motorcycles of all kinds.
The weekend kicks off on Friday, June 19 with the 1 Wheel Revolution Warm Up Show. A thrilling act of showmanship, 1 Wheel Revolution provides entertainment featuring v-twin wheelies, burnouts, drifting and more in their adrenaline filled performances. Watch them as they warm up and prepare for multiple performances on Saturday! Their warm up followed by live music featuring the Jimmy Lee Band. The Jimmy Lee Band has a collection of outlaw country, southern rock, and blues selections to keep your feet moving all night long.
Saturday, June 20 will start off with a cannon salute to the veterans as well as the national anthem performed by Carly Green. An additional cannon salute will take place Saturday evening at 6pm. Following the morning salute and anthem, the police-escorted motorcycle parade will wind through Perryville, ending at The Association of the Miraculous Medal (on St. Joseph Street) for a Blessing of the Bikes. Vendor booths will also open up first thing in the morning.
A ride-in bike show will take place during the day with registration beginning at 10:30am and ending at 4pm. Winners will be announced on the main stage at 5:45pm. Trophies and cash prizes will be awarded. Come to participate or just enjoy perusing through and looking at all of the bikes on display.
Also on Saturday will be three more performances by 1 Wheel Revolution beginning at 12pm, 2pm, and 4pm and taking place in the Knights of Columbus parking lot. A burnout contest will commence at 5pm as well featuring the Thunder Alley Burnout Pit Team.
The main stage entertainment for Bikers on the Square on Saturday will feature performances by six local bands. First in the line up is Stronghold, a Christian rock group offering an uplifting performance. They will play from 12pm to 12:45pm.
Following Stronghold, two bands will perform that recently competed in and won the Perryville Eagles Battle of the Bands contest. Isabella and Captain Howdy will perform from 2:30pm to 4:30pm introducing Bikers on the Square a different genre of music than in past years.
Wrapping up the evening with live music performances will be the Well Hungarians and SuperJam. The Well Hungarians have developed a repertoire of original and cover songs, garnering them charting singles and the 2006 Country Group of the Year Award by New Music Weekly Magazine in Hollywood, CA. The talented group of seasoned musicians is taking the stage at 6:15.
Following the Well Hungarians, SuperJam will send Bikers on the Square out with a rockin' good time. Back by popular demand from the 2013 and 2014 events, SuperJam is a tribute to the rock music of yesteryear. They cover favorites including Boston, STYX, REO Speedwagon, April Wine, and 38 Special among many others. Hear the mighty quintet perform from 9pm until the close of the event at midnight.
While you're having all of the fun, Bikers on the Square reminds you to drink responsibly and leave the driving to someone sober. For those staying in the area's motels, Bus Ta Move will be offering shuttle service for a small fee and will be running regularly throughout the event. If you are not using the shuttle service please designate a driver to get you home safely.
With all of the exciting things Bikers on the Square has to offer, you might want to make your plans now to attend. The event has grown over the last two years, exceeding expectations and this year is shaping up to be the biggest one yet.
