Sometimes it’s the little things that bring the most enjoyment, the most traditional that make us most happy. When going out to eat sometimes all it takes is that most American of meals, a hamburger and fries, and a cold drink to make the evening special. Mary Jane Burgers and Brew values tradition in more ways than one, and owner Carisa Stark uses it to preserve a very special memory.
Mary Jane Burgers and Brew is named for Carisa’s grandmother, and she honors her memory with a dream job Carisa has worked for years to bring to life. It took 17 years of living out west, evolving her career and learning through her travels to bring Carisa back to her hometown of Perryville, Missouri where she successfully put together a restaurant that could represent all of her favorite things, and immortalize a piece of family heritage.
Even the building where Mary Jane Burgers is located is a piece of history. Built in 1904 Carisa restored it, keeping the unique charms. The original tin ceiling, and exposed brick, and wood floors capture the beauty of the early 20th century architecture. The restaurant now has a Vintage Room for private parties, and a newly-added patio for outdoor seating.
But it’s not all about the past, as far as food goes Carisa looks far and wide to bring in the best ingredients for the signature burgers, saying that Chef Matt Ruesler prides himself on the use of fresh ingredients. Carisa says that she seeks a fun and relaxed atmosphere, as well as quality service.
What’s really putting Mary Jane Burgers on the map is their extensive drink collection. With 21 craft beers on tap, as well as a variety of spirits and wine Mary Jane Burgers can quench your thirst with the finest drinks local breweries can offer. For the connoisseurs of fine drinks Mary Jane Burgers also offers a Beer Club. Not only will this allow you to try every drink on tap, but gives members special discounts on events. That’s right, Mary Jane Burgers isn’t just for eating, each week they offer live music, pairing dinners, and more. You can make a whole night of fun and never have to leave your table.
Carisa is also excited to announce the opening of the Jackson Street Brew Co. later this fall. More details will be provided as they become available.
