The city of Jackson is proudly bringing a free and nostalgic music concert to the public. Sunday, September 20 Superjam will be performing favorite classic rock from the 70’s and 80’s, providing three hours of rocking music and a fun evening for the whole family.
Jackson, Missouri has excitedly been providing free music concerts to the community in recent months. The Jackson Municipal Band performed a free summer music series, and a Rockin’ the Park concert was hosted last May. Municipal band treasurer Tim Schwent says, “this is a community service, and it deserves outside entertainment.” The Superjam concert is part of this transition into routine entertainment for the public. A cover band from St. Louis, Superjam has local ties as well with one of their members being a former Jackson native. Dave Farver is lead vocals for the bands and rocks the saxophone.
Superjam is dedicated to classic rock - specifically the era of lava lamps and black light posters. They preserve this music by providing covers of bands like Boston, Styx, The Who, Journey, and more.
In regards to future endeavours Schwent says the city has big plans, “We’re hoping to bring in Nashville acts and get more variety like country and bluegrass,” Schwent said. They are hoping to increase the music industry in Jackson in coming years. The concert is completely free, and people are encouraged to bring picnics, chairs, and blankets. Schwent adds that it is family friendly and will be enjoyed by rock-lovers of any age.
