Newest to the list of now eight wine trails in Missouri is theMississippi River Hills Wine Trail. Winding through approximately 40 miles of Southeast Missouri's beautiful riverside scenery, the trail encompasses six wineries in the area. Included are The Barrens in Perryville, Hemman Winery in Brazeau, Tower Rock Vineyard and Winery in Altenburg, Rothbrick Winery in Jackson, Hunter Valley in Cape Girardeau and opening this weekend for the trail's debut event is Apple Creek Vineyard and Winery in Friedheim, all of which are family owned and operated.
Among the wineries you will find such diverse flavors and experiences that are sure to entice you to come back. Featuring their premiere event "Taste of the Holidays" November 10 & 11, the wine trail will officially "open." The event will run from 12-5pm both days. With the purchase of a ticket you can enjoy a perfectly paired featured wine with a holiday food at each location, as well as a souvenir wine glass at your first stop. Upon traveling to each of the six wineries during the weekend, you will be eligible to win prizes including a night stay at the Willow House Bed and Breakfast and some winery money. Tickets are available at any of the wineries and are $20 in advance, $25 day of and $15 for designated driver.
