WSIU of Southern Illinois is hosting a series of Downton Abbey preview parties. For those who have followed this popular drama from the beginning WSIU is offering a unique chance to take a glimpse of the final season with costumes, a reception, and a special one-hour preview.
“Downton Abbey has been a six-year phenomenon nationwide, and Southern Illinois viewers are no exception,” says Greg Petrowich, Executive Director of WSIU Public Broadcasting. “This has gotten bigger every year, to the point we needed three events this year. Fans of the series know their home for all things ‘Downton’ is WSIU/WUSI-TV.”
Due to the popularity of the preview party WSIU is holding three events in Cape Girardeau, Murphysboro, and Olney. For free admission guests can enjoy a reception that includes refreshments provided by Cristaudo’s Cafe, Bakery, & Catering. There will also be photo opportunities with cardboard displays of Downton Abbey characters. Guests are encouraged but not required to come dressed in 1920s-era attire. After the reception there will be a screening of the first hour of the season six premiere of Downton Abbey.
In Cape Girardeau the party takes place at the River Campus, December 5 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Another will be held at the Dr. John D. Stull Performing Arts Center at Olney Central College in Olney, Illinois, December 5 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The final screening is in the Murphysboro Event Center December 6 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
