River Tales Classic Car Show
By Emily Sladek
September 15, a hot rod commodity is coming to Cape. The Annual River City Rodders Classic Car Show will be held downtown along the riverfront. While the car show isn't until Sunday, the fun starts on Saturday, September 14 with a cruise in at Capaha Park, the event's former location. Enjoy the company of fellow gearheads and car fanatics with a classic cruise from 4-7pm.
The event brings in cars and enthusiasts from all over the region to show off their classic beauties. With over 30 classes, there will be many different vehicles to see, both old and new. The classes include everything from all original to modified, Ford to Chevy, and projects to fully restored rides. Entry fee is only $15 per vehicle (judged or not judged) with registration at 8am. There will be door and cash prizes, trophies, dash plaques, a 50/50 drawing, special awards and more at the event. Spectators do not have to pay a fee to attend the car show.
In the heart of downtown, the event features a prime location to bring the whole family out for some fun. For those who are not so enthused by the cars, they can visit the shops and stores downtown, as well as enjoy dining at one of several local eateries in the area. A stroll along the river wall, visiting art galleries and historic places, and looking out over the Mighty Mississippi are also options close by.
