Run-Ride for Ragan
By Emily Sladek
A story of tragedy has become one of hope for so many others. Ragan Neilson, a young wife and mother, lost her battle with breast cancer in 2007. Through their loss, Ragan's family has reached out to help raise money and awareness for breast cancer prevention.
The 2nd Annual Run-Ride for Ragan Biathlon on October 5, 2013 invites you to put your athleticism to the test through a running and bicycling event. It will feature a 5K and 17 mile bike ride, as well as a 1 mile memory/honor walk. All proceeds will benefit local breast cancer organizations, which provide research and needed services to those unable to afford them. The events will kick off at the Boardman Pavilion in Downtown Cape (across from Hutson's Fine Furniture.)
The event is a celebration of Ragan's life, as well as an effort to provide support to women suffering from breast cancer. It encourages women to vigilant about their own health, and aims to provide the best possible care for those affected.
You can read all of Ragan's story here. Online registration is available now on the event website, and registration closes on September 30. You can also visit them on Facebook for current updates on the event.
