The Creativity Festival presented by Southeast Missouri State University will be full of events to inspire and encourage creativity. Whether it's through dance expression, social media, theater, recreation, meditation or running, prepare to get your creative juices flowing. The event is April 4-6 and all sessions are open to the public.
The event will start with a Kickoff Party April 4 from 11am-1pm with free food and beverages donated by local businesses. Friday starts off with Coffee with Entrepreneurs (RSVP to be eligible for attendance prizes!), and Saturday features a 5K. Thursday and Friday afternoons are split up into one hour "Creativity in Action Sessions" focused on exploring something new. The event also features Cape's first ever Creativity Crawl as well as HootUp which will teach social media efficiency and effectivity.
Thursday evening's HootUp will feature Stacy Dohogne Lane of This Cape Girardeau CVB. As social media has steadily gained popularity across several generations and is used as a major outreach tool to both personal and business contacts, Stacy will teach participants how to manage social media using HootSuite. During the event, appetizers and a cash bar will be available. Preregistration is encouraged but not required, as the space may fill up fast.
The Creativity Crawl on Friday evening will highlight downtown Cape attractions, businesses and experiences. A spin on traditional scavenger hunts, participants - either individual or in teams - will use Twitter to share pictures of Downtown Cape guided by clues for things to include. A raffle with prizes will take place for those who complete the crawl. The crawl begins and ends at West Bank Bistro.
