Southeast Students October Events
by Taylor Mayberry
The first month of college is done and gone. We can’t look back but we have a lot to look forward to. With college brings a variety of activities and program to keep us college folk busy. It’s not like classes and sports don’t keep us busy enough; and who isn’t busy hanging with roommates and new SEMO buds right? Well, why don’t you take those friends of yours and bring them to the exciting events coming up?
October brings a lot for us. I mean homecoming is coming right? Well, there are other things to do on campus also though. Coming up on the 6th is Show Me Day. This Saturday is the day to bring your family to campus. You can take the on tours of our campus, eat the food we eat, meet other students, see where we live, and if you’re risky, talk with the professors. This all starts at 10:00AM. Click here for more information. Before Homecoming starts, we get a break for the fall on the 11th and 12th. With no classes for us to go to, we can relax and take a break.
Are you ready for Homecoming now, because Field Day and The Spirit Rally start the 15th at 5:30PM. Be at the Rec Center for the fun. For more information click here. The Homecoming Talent Show will be hosted by Comedian Adam Grabowski this on the 16th starting at 8:00PM in the Show Me Center. You know you want to see your friends and fellow students’ talent. I wonder if fire will be involved. The Drive-In Movie for Homecoming is on the 17th at 8:00PM. Who wants to see The Avengers on a huge inflatable screen in the Show Me Center Parking Lot? I mean come on, Super Heroes, friends, and popcorn, what could get you more hyped up for Homecoming? You could always go to Football Tailgate at Houck Stadium on the day of the game (Oct. 20th). Live music, food and drinks, and activities for your little brothers and sisters –or your own kids –will be just some of the things there. Come and get pumped For Homecoming. The Parade starts in the morning along Broadway this year.
When the excitement from Homecoming lessens, go excite yourself some more in a party! Party in Pink will be in the Rec Center and in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the event will benefit Susan G. Komen for the cure. Tickets are $3 in advance and $5 at the door. The party starts at noon at shoots for 3:00PM on the 27th. After all the excitement in October, I know I can’t wait until November gets and here and see what it brings.
