The Semo District Fair is coming to 2016 with ‘enough fun for the whole herd.’ One of the biggest fairs in the region, they offer a variety of carnival rides, games, food vendors, entertainment, and more.
Tickets for the Semo District Fair go on sale this week. Patrons can buy advance tickets for the grandstand entertainment starting July 21 at 8 a.m. This year the grandstand entertainment for the fair include live music by Lecrae, Old Dominion, and Oak Ridge Boys. Advance purchase of tickets includes gate entry to the fair. Other events include the antique tractor pull, the Heartland Idol competition, the demo derby, and barrel racing.
Free entertainment also takes place inside the fair. Patrons will recognize acts such as Woodys Menagerie and Circus of Wildlife Show, Marcos the juggler and strolling magician, as well as Wade Henry who provides a juggling and unicycle show.
Local bands like Kickin Kountry, The Driskills, and Reminise Band will perform live at the Activities Tent.
The parade kicks off the event on Saturday, September 10 at 9:30 a.m. It starts at Capaha Park and goes up Broadway to Kingshighway before ending at Arena Park.
Fair-goers can participate in free bingo, a karaoke contest, a washers tournament, look-alike contests, and livestock competitions.
On September 13 the fair will host a ‘two for Tuesday’ special in which patrons can get two admissions, wrist bands, and food items (only at participating vendors) for the price of one. On September 15 it’s ‘thrifty Thursday’ with admission only $3.
