The American Cancer Society presents The Cancer Gala 2016 - a party for fancy cars, fast jets, and good people in the fight against cancer.
This year the gala is being held in the Cape Girardeau Regional Airport where there will be a display of unique, luxury cars and airplanes. The gala will also have live entertainment by Groovethang for a dance party, food, drinks, and a live and silent auction.
Attending the event is motivational speaker Mark Kamp. A Jackson native, Mark is returning to the region from Las Vegas to provide entertainment.
Proceeds raised at the Cancer Gala help fund research and treatments for cancer patients. Most importantly the gala will be helping local families by putting the money towards transportation, lodging, side effect treatment, wigs, and other services. The American Cancer Society currently funds 20 grants that help thousands of people in the area who are in need.
Cheryl Ellis of the American Cancer Society said, “This is a community-wide event. Our local offices covers a very broad area in Southeast Missouri. It doesn’t matter where they’re from. Anyone who walks through our door, we will help them.”
With the gala, Cheryl hope not only to raise funds, but give attendees a unique experience that will celebrate the strides made, honor cancer patients, and provide a fun party. “It’s going to be amazing, unlike anything in Cape Girardeau. We are so fortunate to have Mark Kamp, he’s going to show everyone a great time.”
Patrons will be welcomed at the door with a valet and champagne. From there everyone can enjoy complimentary beer and wine while perusing different culinary stations. Cheryl said there will be an array of unique automobiles including a Rolls Royce, a Bentley, and a Ferrari. For your dancing pleasure Groovethang - a seven-piece band from St. Louis - will provide the live music.
Black tie optional, officials invite everyone to dress to impress.
All are welcome. Tickets are $125 each and tables are $1000 each. For those who cannot attend there is a donation option on the website.
