Since its beginning in 2015 the bi-annual Tailgate Flea Market has soared in popularity with local businesses and shoppers. Offering outdoor shopping in Downtown Cape, the market takes full advantage of spring and fall weather to get people outside to enjoy local vendors.
After a successful May event the Tailgate Flea Market is returning for fall 2016. There will be 120 vendors plus several businesses will be open throughout the downtown area, rain or shine. The market is made up of crafters, antique dealers, artists, gardeners, food vendors, and more, providing a little something for everybody. There will also be entertainment and music.
The Tailgate Flea Market is set up in the Boardman Pavilion parking lot across from Hutson’s Fine Furniture, and on the corner of Broadway and Main. In between small businesses will have their doors open with special sales all day.
Paula Haas, who organizes the event with the Downtown Merchants Group, says the response has been great. “May got everyone’s attention, it’s amazing. Merchants have had record-day sales, and the Cape Visitors Bureau has our devotion. Our goal is to bring people to Downtown Cape.”
The goal has been met with thousands of estimated visitors attending the market. Paula hopes to keep it growing in the future.
The Tailgate Flea Market is October 2 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
