With the tag line "Sending kids to camp," Wappstock, as a not-for-profit organization, is a music festival dedicated to giving back the money they raise to the community. In 2012, they were able to send three different scout troops to camp, and they welcome the opportunity to expand on that and help send kids to specialty camps as well.
Started as a reunion of sorts to bring back the generation of people who spent their days at Wappapello Lake, Wappstock was born. In the past the event was limited to a music festival, (and a good one, at that!) but for 2013, it has grown to include a Car and Motorcycle Show as well as a Poker Run to compliment the music. The annual event will be on August 10 beginning at 9am and ending when the evening jam session ceases.
This year's music festival lineup is not slighted due to the addition of other events though. So far, the selection of bands includes Headley Grange, Alex Beaird Band, Black River Blues, Ernie Lewis Band, Cynderblok, Pasttime, As Is, and Keith Morrison Band on the main stage, and Victorette & the Stolen Smokes, Matney Shea Davis, on the second stage with more bands to be announced. There will also be an all star jam session at the close of the final act until the evening ends. This lineup offers a variety of music for all to enjoy in addition to spending time on the lake with friends both old and new.
In partnership with the Shine and Show Charity Car Show and the Wappapello Eagles riders, the car and motorcycle show, as well as the poker run, will take place during the music festivities. The registration will begin at 9am for the show, and the Poker Run will kickoff at 10am with six stops along the route. Car show awards will be given around 2:30pm, and motorcycle show awards will be given when the poker run arrives around 4pm.
The music is scheduled to begin at 11am on the amateur stage and at 3pm on the main stage. The main stage lineup is subject to change, but is scheduled as follows: Keith Morrison Band at 3pm; Alex Beaird Band at 4:15pm; Ernie Lewis Band at 5:15pm; Black River Blues at 6:15pm; Cynderblok at 7:15pm; Pasttime at 8:15pm; As Is at 10:15pm; and the All-Star Jam Session from 11:30pm to the close of the event.
So with all of this fun and excitement, you may want to get your tickets as soon as possible. The Car and Motorcycle Show is free to the public to view. Cost for entry into the car show is $15 for one car and $10 for each additional car. The entry fee for the Motorcycle Show and Poker Run is $20, plus $5 per hand. Participants in the car and motorcycle events will receive half price entry into the music festival. General admission tickets for the music are $10 in advance of $15 at the gate. Presale tickets are available on the Wappstock website and will be available until August 10 at 10am.
