Indulge in signature items from twelve Cape Girardeau restaurants participating in the Taste of Cape restaurant hop to benefit Southeast Missouri State University’s Department of Theatre and Dance Tuesday, April 22.
For just $10, participants will be able to visit any or all of the restaurants from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., enjoying each business’s signature items. The Theatre and Dance Society, host of the event, will use the proceeds to fund the annual Senior Showcase in New York City, explained Dr. Phil Nacy, chair of the Department of Theatre and Dance.
The list of participating restaurants includes: BG’s Deli, Andy’s Frozen Custard, Cup’n Cork, Saffron Bistro, My Daddy’s Cheesecake, Marco’s Pizza, PrimoVino!, Bel Air Grill, Mississippi Mutts, Jimmy John’s, Imo’s Pizza, and Burrito-Ville. Each eatery will serve its signature item, and participants can go to as many restaurants as they can in the three-hour time span. Theatre and Dance students will be present at each eatery to greet customers and sell tickets to those wishing to participate in the restaurant hop.
Students in the department of Theatre and Dance are ecstatic about the upcoming event. Laura Liefer, a junior theater major, participated in the restaurant last year. “It’s a great opportunity to try out some place that you wouldn’t normally eat at” she explained. “Essentially you stuff your face at some of the best places in town all for ten bucks, and it supports the arts.”
Dance students aren’t the only ones enthusiastic about the event. Misty Thrower, owner of Bel Air Grill, shared her excitement, stating, “I love that it supports the school, and it also creates an opportunity to try so many local businesses.” The event has truly earned its title of “Taste of Cape.”
Tickets may be purchased prior to April 22 by calling (573)651-2149 or the night of the event at any of the participating restaurants.
