With the tag line "Sending kids to camp," Wappstock, as a not-for-profit organization, is a music festival dedicated to giving back the money they raise to the community. Since it's conception in 2011, they have been able to send several different scout troops to camp, and they welcome the opportunity to expand their reach.
Started as a reunion of sorts to bring back the generation of people who spent their days at Wappapello Lake, Wappstock was born. It was originally a music festival (and a good one, at that!), but it has since grown to include much more. This year will feature a car show, motorcycle rally and poker run, and catfish tournament to compliment the music.
This year's music festival lineup is loaded with great performers. The lineup offers a variety of music for all to enjoy in addition to spending time on the lake with friends both old and new. So far, the selection of bands includes Scott Shipley, Alex Beaird Band, Black River Blues, Ernie Lewis Band, Cynderblok, As Is, and Drivin' Rain on the indoor main stage for the 70s, 80s, and Blues show. Tickets for the indoor stage are $10 in advance, or at the gate $15 for one, $25 for two, and $50 for 5. The indoor stage performers start at 3pm.
In addition to the indoor stage, two outdoor stages will offer free live music. The Crabb & Co. Bluegrass stage will have The Pierce Family and String Circle with music starting at 11am. The Pavilion music starts at 10 am and boasts Robert Monroe Band, Brady Nichols Band, Keyven Dunn and Headway.
Newest to the festival is the Catfish Tournament. There will be an entry fee of $60 per boat, and that will be split with a portion going the event's charity and a portion going to prize money for the winners. Each entry into the tournament will receive 2 tickets to the 70s, 80s, and Blues show. The tournament starts early at 6:30am and goes until noon.
A car show will feature some of the coolest cars around. It will be from 9am to 3pm and this year will feature a People's Choice Award in addition to other prize categories. The entry fee is $15 for your first car and $10 for each additional car. Paid entries into the show will receive half price tickets to the indoor stage performances.
The motorcycle rally will start off at the Wappapello Eagles at 9am. The poker run will leave from there and cover approximately 100 travel miles and 5 locations, beginning and ending at the Wappapello Eagles. Entry fee is $20 and includes entry into the indoor stage for the rider. A companion can purchase a ticket for $5. Poker hands at each location are $5 each with some of that going towards payouts.
