Enjoy the beautiful, scenic Cape area as you pedal your way through the Tour de Cape on September 28.
In its 14th year, the annual bike ride that originated in Downtown Cape where is has remained over the years. The routes have changed, however, due to construction, sinkholes, and more obstacles that have come and gone over the years. The ride will begin at the Boardman Pavillion across from Hutson's Fine Furniture at 8:30am, and will feature 15, 30, 65 and 100 mile options to suit everyone from the novice to the pro. The routes pass through the scenic countryside, with rest stops located every 15-20 miles offering refreshments and restrooms.
All riders will be given map and cue sheets, and the routes are marked with painted arrows at the turns. SAG support will be provided by Cyclewerx and Cape Bicycle Cycling and Fitness for minor repairs on the road and return rides to the start. The event is presented in partnership by the Evening Optomist Club of Cape Girardeau and the Cape Girardeau Rotary Club.
As in the past, the ride benefits the Mississippi River Valley Therapeutic Horsemanship Program, an organization that provides horseback therapy for children with physical disabilities. You can find out more about this organization on their website.
Pre-registration for the ride is available online now at the Tour de Cape website. The numbers are expected to reach 200-300 riders this year, so don't miss the opportunity to join in!
