Cobden, Illinois is having their 76th Annual Peach Festival August 2-3, 2013 in celebration of the area's rich tradition of the sweet seasonal fruit.
The festival features family fun for all ages. Enjoy a queen pageant, parade, entertainment, games, a 5K and Fun Run, food and refreshments, and of course, peaches. There will be an opportunity to "Spin to Win" peaches during the festivities. The festival is free to attend.
The queen pageant will get underway Friday with the swimsuit competition at 8pm and the evening gown portions at 9:15pm.
Saturday will feature many of the headlining events. Starting off with a little fitness fun, the 5K Run/Walk and 1 mile Fun Run will be Saturday morning at the Community Park. Prizes will be awarded in several categories.
Saturday afternoon, find yourself at the parade dubbed with the theme "Dog Days of Summer" featuring floats from many organizations, businesses, groups, and more! If you want to be a part of the parade, they are accepting entries until just before it starts, or you can opt to sit and watch as they parade by.
From 6-9pm, you can enjoy Eli Tellor, who plays a wide array of country music. He will perform before the coronation of the 2013 Peach Festival Queen which will be at 9:15pm wrapping up the festival.
Throughout both evenings you can enjoy the delicious peach dishes including cobbler and peaches and cream, as well as partaking in the carnival and food vendors. The festivities start at 5pm both nights.
