Suffice to say 2014 was a big year. From launching our redesigned website to welcoming the renowned Budweiser Clydesdales to the region to (im)patiently anticipating the release of Gone Girl, we were here, there and everywhere keeping you up to date on all things happening in Southeast Missouri and Southern Illinois.
In case you were there or in case you missed it, here are some highlights from the year in no particular order.
The clydesdales' visit brings us to our next highlight - Bikers on the Square. The second annual event grew exponentially from its pioneer affair in 2013. The horsepower was wide-ranging - from an eight horse team of clydesdales leading the parade to the powerful two-wheeled wonders.
Jackson celebrated their Bicentennial year with many festivities, including added fun at their annual 4th of July Celebration (the traditional celebration and a motor-less parade) as well as the official ground breaking for the soon-coming community center.
With a goal of finding a cure for MS and having fun doing it, Crawlin' for a Cause held their annual event at Outlaw Off Road Park. A big muddy mess of fun was had by all as the money raised went to help find a cure for Multiple Sclerosis.
Speaking of mud, the 5H Camel Ranch was host to the Berserker Challenge (held shortly after the John D. Hale Band Barn Party). The challenging obstacle course tested strength, agility, and endurance through a muddy, mucky course.
It wouldn't be "fair" to leave out the SEMO District Fair either! Always anticipated and always enjoyed, the SEMO District Fair brought headlining acts, carnival rides, and much more for families to enjoy.
The red carpet rolled out for local "celebrities" as Gone Girl premiered at the local movie theater. The much anticipated release sold out multiple shows at the theater opening weekend and was a big hit both locally and nationally.
An exciting in-house thing we accomplished this year was the launch of our redesigned site. Making it mobile friendly, streamlining the content to be easier to find and access, and opening up greater opportunity for expansion are just a few things the redesign accomplished.
The year held too many exciting things to mention them all. Check out our photo and video galleries for more fun things that we got to be a part of!
Now, as the year draws to a close, we would also like to offer our thanks.
Our biggest thank you goes to our sponsors. A hearty shout out goes to them, and a request goes to our friends, fans and followers to support these local places. Continue to patronize the local restaurants and stores that create the character and class of our communities. Without them, what we do for you would not be possible.
We also want to say thanks to our friends, fans, and followers for relying on us to keep you up to date on all things local, from restaurant menus to upcoming events. 2014 has been a big year for us, and we are glad you were along for the ride!
