A Farewell to a Cherished Jackson Building

Although the rink was closed down several years ago, the old Jackson Skating Rink building has just recently been torn down after officials deemed it ‘beyond saving.’ No plans on what to do with the property have been announced. For several residents the loss of the building comes as a sad occasion, as many remember it as the Jackson Skating Center in the 1990s. The building stood as a happy reminder to a fun era. A pillar in many childhoods, the skate center was full of birthdays, retro arcade games, disco balls, and old fashioned, rollerblading fun. After its closing the building went into disrepair, going mostly unused for several years. While the building held sentimental value for many locals, the chance to skate is not yet gone. For those feeling nostalgic for some ‘90s rollerblading the Class Act Skate Spot is open to the public in Jackson, keeping in the tradition with popular music, disco lights, and arcade games.

To get your skate on, visit Class Act at 2336 County Road 307 Jackson, Missouri
