Fishing Season at the Park

The Missouri Department of Conservation has pumped trout into Rotary Park in Jackson, MO so it is now freshly stocked for the fishing season, an odd sight as officials used a long tube to tunnel 1,900 fish into the lake. Harvesting starts February 1, and Fisheries Management Biologist, Mike Reed reminds fishermen that any fish caught before then must be released back into the water. With the early bout of warm weather, Reed says harvests should be bountiful this year, especially in the first week. In addition, there is a limit of four fish per harvest, and fishermen must have a trout permit. Any lure or bait is allowed.

Fishing season starts February 1. For questions call the Missouri Department of Conservation at 573-290-5730.
