Miracle Dog Visits Schools

Marshall, a rescue dog, hasn’t had it easy. A victim of dog hoarding, Marshall was rescued from an abandoned property where he had been injured by other animals, costing him one of his legs. But now Marshall has hit the big time, becoming the star of his own movie, book, and advocate for anti-bullying and animal kindness.  Local author Cynthia Willenbrock adopted Marshall after seeing his plight on the Animal Planet channel. Her book, Marshall the Miracle Dog was inspired by Marshall’s story. A movie of the same title was later produced, it won the Audience Choice Award for Best Film at the St. Louis International Film Festival. Now Marshall and Willenbrock are traveling the state on a ‘Kindness Tour’ visiting 300 schools, including West Lane Elementary School in Jackson. This tour focuses on anti-bullying, and being kind to animals. Students also get sneak peeks of Marshall’s movie, which will open nationally later this fall. To see Marshall the Miracle Dog early go to Cape West 14 Cine March 7 and 8 for a public screening. Proceeds benefit the 4-H. March 7 is also Marshall’s ‘Commit to be Kind’ event, a statewide effort to bring awareness to their message. The public is encouraged to participate by donating to local animal shelters.
