Students Help Veterans Adjust to Campus Living

One of the challenges army veterans face is the reintegration into civilian life, that includes going back to school. The Student Veterans Organization at Southeast Missouri State University are looking to help with that transition by giving veterans a place to live. An anonymous donor has given SVO a house for that very purpose. The home will act as a temporary living space for veterans as they adjust to college life and find a more permanent place to live. Jared Bush-Howe is president of SVO, and a Construction Management and Design major, so he’s diving right in to make repairs to the house. He and 28 volunteers are working to remodel the home into a four-bedroom, dorm-style living space.
