Cape Girardeau Receives Rehabilitation Grant



The city of Cape Girardeau has received a housing rehabilitation grant in the amount of $219,990, which it plans to invest into the homes of Cape Girardeau citizens. Officials will be accepting applications from homeowners who wish to see their home rehabilitated, and there are no limitations on who can apply. City officials will select 30 applications on a first-come, first-serve bases, with the exception that senior citizens and the disabled will have priority. $7,000 will be invested for each applicant to improve and remodel their home.

A public meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 28 at 7 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at City Hall, located at 401 Independence Street, to explain the program, answer any questions concerning the program, and to take applications. Or you can visit the Planning Services Division office on the second floor of City Hall to submit an application after April 28.
