Artificial Ice Skating in Carbondale

It’s been an oddly warm December, but that hasn’t stopped one Southern Illinois town from having some winter fun. In Carbondale the Parks and Recreation Department has set up an artificial ice skating rink in the town square.

For $3 patrons get a pair of skates and enjoy as much time as they want on the rink. The proceeds go towards the funding of Super Splash Aquatic Center.

The artificial ice rink is made of plastic, so you get the experience of ice skating without the cold. The ice skating rink will be open through January, every weekday from noon to 6 p.m. (Excluding holidays). You can find the rink at the intersection of Jackson and North Washington Streets across from Longbranch Cafe and Tres Hombres.
