Tri-State Advertising Group Awards Top Local Advertisers at Annual Banquet



CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Tri-State Advertising & Marketing Professionals (AMP) recognized the best in local advertising creativity at the annual American Advertising Awards Show on Friday, February 19.

One-hundred-seventy-one print, digital, and multi-media advertising projects, all created, published or aired in the Cape Girardeau, Mo.; Paducah, Ky.; and Harrisburg, Ill., markets between January 1 and December 31, 2015, were considered in this year’s competition. Of those entries, Tri-State AMP presented 12 Gold ADDY awards, 14 Silver ADDY awards, and 12 Bronze ADDY recognitions to professionals and 19 Student ADDY Awards to students from Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau.

Three professional “Best of Show” recognitions were also awarded; in the print division, to Southeast Missouri State University for “Will to Do Recruitment Packet” produced for Southeast Missouri State University. In the digital division, a Best of Show ADDY was awarded to Southeast Missouri State University “Paul McRoberts Video” produced for Southeast’s Department of Athletics. In the cross platform division, the Best of Show went to rustmedia of Cape Girardeau, for “Cape Comic Con. The student Best of Show was awarded to Vatchae Sams from Southeast Missouri State University for “Gang Star Diner.”

Prior to the awards show, Mary Spell was honored with the American Advertising Federation’s Silver Medal Award, which recognizes men and women who have made outstanding contributions to advertising and who have been active in furthering the industry's standards, creative excellence and responsibility in areas of social concern. Past local recipients include Johnathan Wright, Paul Walker, “Cousin Carl” Anderson, Mike Tenholder, Gary Rust, Charles and Judy Wiles, Wes Wade, Jim Riley, Brian Young and Nancy Bray.

Mary Spell became the director of the marketing and public relations department at Saint Francis Medical Center in 1985. Later transferring to the Saint Francis Foundation. She was instrumental in developing community relations, planning special events and writing grant proposals. She is also widely known for her outstanding leadership and generous support of the community as evidenced by the large list of organizations she has served on in the past and present.

Local gold AAA winners are eligible to compete in the second level of the three-tiered American Advertising Awards Competition, the District 9 competition. The district judging will be conducted in

March and includes entries submitted by other AAF clubs throughout Missouri, Iowa, Kansas and Nebraska. District 9 winners will be eligible for the ultimate competition, the national ADDY, presented in June every year by AAF. As a three-tiered national competition with 40,000 entrants overall, the national ADDY Awards are the advertising industry’s largest and most representative competition, recognizing creative excellence and the very best advertising worldwide.
