Sculpture to be Added to Fountain Street Roundabout

The City of Cape Girardeau has partnered with Southeast Missouri State University to fund the creation of a large-scale sculpture for the Fountain Street roundabout, which neighbors the River Campus. Professor Chris Wubbena has been selected to design and build the sculpture with the assistance of SEMO students.

The sculpture will be made of stainless steel and bronze, and will stand about 15 feet tall. Cost is estimated at $64,000 which will be covered by the university, and Casino-tax revenue from the city.

Wubbena says his students will assist in the construction so that they can gain experience with large-scale projects. Installation will take place August 2017.

Mayor Harry Rediger is in favor of adding sculptures to all of the cities roundabouts.
