The Lazy L Safari Park will be holding a special event on Saturday, June 25, 2016. The Zoofest Gold Rush Days will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Vicki Lantz, Zoo Director says, “Zoofest is our annual anniversary celebration and we will be celebrating our seventh season.”
Regular zoo admission is $7 per person (ages 2 to adult) and children under 2 are free. Activities include mining for gemstones, minerals, and fossils at the Lazy L Mining Co. Mining rough bags are just $5 per bag and you can take home your findings! Find the Bag of Gold and win a prize! Come get your grub and enjoy a flash from the past with outdoor chuckwagon cookin’ by R/D Cowboy Cookin’ & Chuckwagon. Meals will be available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for a charge. You can also play horseshoes or try your hand at roping the “dummy” steer at the Kiddie Corral.
In addition to the above, there will be a special guest appearance by a White Buffalo Calf and a Texas Longhorn Steer. Pony and camel Rides will be operating for $5 per rider. There will be door prize drawings for special discounts. You can also visit the Safari Gift Shop where you will find souvenirs and gifts. Come dressed as a Gold Rush Miner or Western Pioneer and join the zoo for a Wild West Adventure to help celebrate their anniversary!
Lazy L Safari Park located in Cape Girardeau, is a walk-thru zoo featuring animals from alligators to zebras. Visitors can get up close and personal with over 50 different species of exotic animals. You’ll also find a petting zoo, gift shop, picnic shelter, and snack shack.
