Cape Selected as part of Partners in Preservation

Cape Girardeau was selected along with 25 other cities as a part of Partners in Preservation.
National Geographic is hosting the website, where the public may vote once a day for up to five projects through Oct. 31. (OR 5 votes for Cape a day!)
Once on the site scroll down to the Cape section and vote 5 times, every day)
Winners will be announced Nov. 2. The sites with the most votes will get grants of up to $150,000 each, with as many projects funded as possible from a pool of $1.5 million

Partners in Preservation is an initiative created by the National Trust for Historic Preservation and American Express to engage the public in preserving and increasing awareness of America’s historic places and their role in sustaining local communities. Since its inception in 2006, Partners in Preservation has awarded over $19 million in support of more than 200 sites.

Just as American Express has motivated millions of Americans to shop along their Main Streets during Small Business Saturday, the 2017 Partners in Preservation: Main Streets campaign will create national awareness of the connection between historic preservation and our country’s thriving Main Streets. When citizens support their local historic sites and districts, they drive development, preserve character, attract visitors, and propel commerce.
