Clark Family Christmas Lights Show

The season of skies illuminated by Christmas lights is upon us, and a quick trip down to Kelso will prove that decorating is not a lost art.

Inspired by the magic and wonder of Christmas, brothers Brooks and Brandon Clark have done their fair share of decorating. Over the course of several years, the brothers have poured their time, efforts, and a great deal of holiday spirit into making their mother's home a true winter wonderland. From props to lights to Christmas tunes, no feature of their spectacular display will go unnoticed.

The brothers wanted to brighten the Christmas season for people around them by offering a new twist on an old tradition. They wanted to decorate for Christmas with lights and holiday music, and they wanted to share it with the community. Putting together a light show containing 100,000 Christmas lights was no simple task. Met with rewiring, miles of extension cords, and a few holdups over the years, they created a masterpiece though. Together, they watched a few videos for some ideas, planned their display, and got to work developing what would for many become a family tradition to see. The first show kicked off in 2009, and amazing though it was, it was only the start of something that would grow and expand each year.

The lights don't have to speak for themselves, though they certainly could. If you go to see the light spectacular, tune your radio into 87.9 FM and see the lights "dance" to the music that plays. Hear Christmas favorites including classic carols, as well as some more contemporary holiday hits. The brothers have spent much of their spare time coordinating the lights with the music to add another sense of wonder and amazement to the show.

The 20' tall trees and a house brimming with lights are small in comparison to the cause for which they stand, though. In true Christmas spirit, you will find out in front of the house a decorated collection box for St. Jude Children Research Hospital. A way of giving back at Christmas time, all of the donations go directly to St. Jude. Collectively, they have raised over $20,000 for the hospital with that number growing more every year.

Everyone is welcome to drive by or stop and stare a while, and you can catch the impressive show just outside of Kelso on Scott County Road 208. The lights will run from 5-9pm Sunday through Thursday and 5pm-midnight Friday and Saturday. Times may expand as Christmas draws closer.
