Beggs Farm Falls into the Season

Beggs Family Farm 2016Beggs Family Farm kicked off October with a grand opening event last Saturday. It was perfect weather for a day on the farm as fans came to enjoy pumpkins, games, and even a few scares.

This is the Beggs’ 16th year providing fun for the Halloween season. They’ve grown considerably over the past decade, offering carnival-like concessions, unique playgrounds, and adorable farm animals.

Sheila Beggs says they provide to the community in many ways, “We raise money during the month of October for the local humane society and St. Jude.  We provide employment for 70 people during the month.”

Kids and adults alike find all kinds of fun at Beggs. The majority of the play equipment is adult-sized so kids, and kids-at-heart, can enjoy climbing on tractor tires, practice their lasso skills, ride the horse swings, race on the pedal cart track, and jump on the inflatable pillow. You can even take a bumpy ride down the jumbo tube slide. “We provide a family-oriented activity to the area community.  In a tech savvy world we enjoy seeing families interact with each other on the farm,” Sheila says.

For animal-lovers, Beggs is home to a variety of creatures including emus, rabbits, and alpacas. Visitors can take a camel ride, or watch the pig races. Bring some quarters - the Begg animals love to receive a snack.

After all the play patrons can re-energize at one of the Begg’s many snack concessions. They offer lunches like hamburgers and corn dogs, and more seasonal treats like caramel apples, kettle corn, and fudge.

Beggs is most famous for their intricate corn maze, and off-site pumpkin patch. The maze has a bingo game you can play while you get lost - don’t worry, they have a number you can text if you need directions.

The pumpkin patch is another trip all its own. Climb aboard the wagon and enjoy the ride to a cozy pumpkin patch where you can pick the perfect Jack ‘O Lantern to-be.

Admission into Beggs includes entry to the Boo Barn. Don’t be fooled by the kid-friendly atmosphere, this haunt is recommended for patrons 12 and up, and features stunning animatronics, light shows, and interactive special effects. Once inside you’ll hear the frightening tale of ‘Phobia Farm’ then make your way through the haunted barn, if you dare.

Even more activities await throughout the farm. You can get a souvenir at the gift shop, build a scarecrow, test your aim at the shooting gallery, and so much more.

Beggs Family Farm is open throughout October with varying days and hours. Visit their website for details.
