Wineries in Southeast Missouri and Southern Illinois

With the weather warm and summer on its way, the wineries in the area are quite the place to be. With live entertainment, great foods, and scenery that highlights the beauty of the area, the wineries offer much more than just a cold glass of delicious, locally made wine.

The region offers several wine trail options, as well as other wineries scattered throughout. In Southern Illinois, a visit to the Shawnee Hills Wine Trail will take you through the beautiful Illinois countryside lined with trees and the foliage of the season in full bloom. On the trail, you will find wineries stretching from Carbondale to Cobden, with a vast variety of wines unrivaled. Also in the area, you can enjoy GenKota Winery in Mt. Vernon and The Bluffs Vineyard and Winery in Ava among others that are not part of the wine trail. offers a complete list of wineries in Southern Illinois.

Rolling hills and quaint vineyards are a site to see along the Route du Vin Wine Trail in the Ste. Genevieve and Farmington area. Featuring the flavor and flair of six distinctive wineries, the Route du Vin Wine Trail is home to some of Missouri's favorite wineries. The wine trail prides itself on offering several events and live music throughout the year to showcase the wines and wineries that all contribute to its make up.

Newest to the area is the Mississippi River Hills Wine Trail, set along the banks of the Mighty Mississippi River in Cape Girardeau and Perry Counties. This trail, established in 2012, is home to six wineries all unique in their own way and alike that they are family owned and operated. Also offering events to showcase the trail's wineries as well as live entertainment, there are plenty of opportunities to visit.

Other wineries in Missouri also stand alone apart from one of the wine trails, including River Ridge Winery in Commerce, Buck Mountain Vineyard and Winery in Doe Run, Durso Hills Winery and Bistro in Marquand, and Eagle Pass Winery in Poplar Bluff. These are just a few among many that you can visit in the region.
