Butler County Fair 2013

By Emily Sladek

Whether it's the smell of the funnel cakes or the crushing sounds of the Demolition Derby that draw you, make your way to the Butler County Fair in Poplar Bluff Missouri July 3-12.

The fair, in its 17th year, features the theme "Red, White and You at the Butler County Fair" for the 2013 festivities. Several events will take place in an effort to uphold the fair's tradition of family friendly fun including fireworks, carnival rides, and a youth stick horse parade. Other festivities will include a highway patrol dunking booth, a BBQ cookoff, a 5K race, lawnmower races, demolition derby, Bullfest, and a car, truck, motorcycle, and antique tractor show.

Perhaps one of the main highlights of the event is Bullfest, an event that will take place on July 4th. Watch bull riders compete for the $1,000 prize. Also headlining is the demolition derby, a great tradition for the fair. Derby lovers can catch the car crushing action as competitors vie for the last one standing.

You can find more details about all of these events and more on the fair's website.
